Essence

Origin story
This impulse was a reaction to both the perceived artificiality of classical narratives and the tumultuous historical context of the era—world wars, existential crises, and the collapse of grand narratives in philosophy. Antinarrative became a tool for expressing skepticism toward meta-narratives and for foregrounding the constructedness of all storytelling.
Underlying philosophy
Rather than offering answers or closure, antinarrative asks: What if there is no story? What if our desire for coherence blinds us to complexity, contradiction, and the unknown?
